As business leaders contemplate the possibilities of innovating with artificial intelligence while mitigating its risks, governing representatives worldwide came together to discuss the current state of AI regulation and its impact on the HR industry. This group influences guidelines that touch millions of people, and human resource leaders are a key link in the chain.
Top global regulators at HR Technology EuropeAs part of an ongoing effort to reach as many stakeholders as possible, Keith Sonderling, Commissioner of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), moderated a keynote panel at HR Technology Europe, held in Amsterdam earlier this month.
He was joined by Emily Campbell-Ratcliffe, head of AI assurance at the U.K.’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT); Tobias Muellensiefen, team leader of the Future of Work unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs; and Irakli Beridze, head of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at UNICRI, United Nations.
Sonderling acknowledged that HR leaders are constantly pressured to look beyond trends and stay prepared to do their jobs. “How do we prevent the next big disaster when it comes to employment discrimination and employment issues?” pondered the Commissioner. “And as you all know, everything is going to technology, and this conference is proof positive of that.”
