Case Study: How Kyan Health and On Running Are Redefining Workplace Mental Well-Being

In today’s fast-paced work environment, the conversation around employee well-being is more critical than ever. One of the biggest challenges in the HR wellbeing space is measuring the true impact of well-being initiatives.

While numbers alone can’t capture the full human experience, tangible insights are essential for sparking discussions on how to help individuals thrive, feel valued, and align with their purpose at work.

A Partnership with Purpose

For the past three years, Kyan Health has proudly partnered with fitness brand, On Running, to support the mental well-being of their employees, from talent onboarding right through to leadership development.

The Impact in Numbers

Through a carefully designed well-being intervention, On Running achieved an annual saving of $2.9 million for their 2,500 employees.

  • $1.3M in Productivity Gains: By reducing presenteeism, where employees are physically at work but not fully engaged, On Running experienced significant improvements in productivity.

  • $1.1M Saved Through Reduced Attrition: A 30% reduction in voluntary attrition not only lowered costs but also reinforced the importance of investing in employee satisfaction and retention.

  • $500K Saved in Managing Mental Health Cases: Proactive mental well-being initiatives led to more effective management of mental health cases, resulting in further financial benefits.

What These Results Tell Us

These figures highlight several key insights:

  • Holistic approaches to mental wellbeing are the future of work: Mental health initiatives are far more than a “nice to have.” They shape ethos and company culture on an individual level to team structures from the ground up.

  • Wellbeing Interventions Demonstrate Measurable Value: ROI from wellbeing interventions can be accurately measured, gone are the days of filling quotas for wellbeing without getting useful impact driven data.

  • Companies thrive from human-centric workplaces: Employees that feel valued and care for drive productivity and positive workplace environments.

Moving Forward: A Human-Centric Future

As well as creating an environment where employees can truly flourish, companies prioritising well-being outperform on the stock market (see below), demonstrating the true value for individuals and the organisation of investing in well-being.
