Swedish HR lags behind in tech development - international HR conference focuses on future solutions

Sweden has long been a role model in the work environment, employee wellbeing and culture, but when it comes to digitalisation, Swedish HR teams are lagging far behind other countries, according to a recent report by the Centre for Global HRM at the University of Gothenburg.

To highlight this trend and show the way forward in digitalisation, the internationally acclaimed HR Tech conference is coming to Europe for the second year running. On 4-5 March, world-leading HR experts, innovators, and decision-makers will gather in Amsterdam to discuss the solutions of the future. One of the speakers will be Swedish HR professional Johannes Sundlo, People Director at Avalanche Studios.

“HR is the heart of any organisation. Many of us who work in HR didn't choose it because we love technology, but we risk Sweden falling behind globally if we don't start taking these issues seriously. We need to realise that our roles today are already very much about understanding the interaction between individuals and technology” says Johannes Sundlo, Human Resources Director, Avalanche Studios Group

HR Tech Europe offers inspiring keynotes, interactive workshops and opportunities to network and share experiences with the best in the industry. With a focus on topics such as AI and automation, data-driven leadership and change management, the conference will provide an opportunity to learn about the next generation of HR solutions.

“Attending the conference provides ideas, connections, and concrete takeaways that are hard to come by in Sweden. The most valuable, and also the most fun, part of attending HR Tech Europe is sharing experiences with others. We need to raise our sights and get inspiration from outside,” says Anna Carlsson, “digitalisation expert in HR and one of the speakers at the conference.”

Among the international and Swedish top names on stage are:

  • Josh Bersin, Global Industry Analyst, The Josh Bersin Company

  • Wouter Hol, VP HR, Netflix

  • Uzair Qadeer, Chief People Officer, BBC

  • Therése Götsten, Chief People Officer Digital, IKEA

  • Alexander Westerdahl, HR Product & Technology, Spotify

  • Melissa Shelley Hojwall, Global Head of People Digitalisation, H&M

The conference takes place on 4-5 March 2025 in Amsterdam and is a platform for networking, exclusive insights, and inspiration from industry leaders and international players. With more than 180 speakers on the agenda, 80 inspiring educational and networking sessions, over 90 exhibitors, and over 2,000 like-minded HR professionals to share experiences with, the conference provides insights and guidance to shape the HR strategies of the future.
